WP 2.1.2 and Blog Addiction

One of the biggest fear for upgrading the WP was, what if I could not get my old database back. I have had trouble when I tried to set up a new WP blog for Roslin Orphanage blog  in the new webhosting.  In my first trial, I installed WP 2.0.7 using the files that I have downlinked before. Somehow it didn’t work correctly so I tried to upgrade to WP 2.1. That was the time when I got the message that the database was old and I went ahead to delete the database and configured a new one. (Too bad I didn’t read the upgrade documentation at that time.)

Even after reading John Chow’s warning I still hesitated to upgrade, especially I was so busy last week. However, the problem described in this thread bothered me. Finally, I have no choice and have to follow the instruction to upgrade the software. It turned out that the upgrading documentation was so well written and here we go. I got my blog upgraded to WP 2.1.2.

I wish I have upgraded it early and not wasting almost two of my 4 off-work days trying to fix the problem. I have also set up an appointment with my accountant to asking questions while we go through my tax return this Monday. But up until now I even haven’t installed my tax preparation software yet.  This reminded me the following quote at Blogger Blog who quoted from David Carr of NY Times:

Sometimes I wonder whether I care to the point that I neglect other things, like, oh, my job. Tweaking the blog is seductive in a way that a print deadline never is. By the time I am done posting entries, moderating comments and making links, my, has the time flown. I probably should have made some phone calls about next week’s column, but maybe I’ll write about, ah, blogging instead.

No wonder we start to read more about blog addiction and some of the funny entries. But before becoming a candidate for blogger anonymus, I’d better go to get some fresh air.
