When was your last physical….?

Yes, I know. The question has nothing to do with satellite tracking and that is the reason why I put it under Personal Category. The reason as you can find in this link, a dear friend of mine passed away on Christmas morning due to heart attack. Two days later, I saw emergency medical people rushing away a friend on an ambulance to the emergency room. They were suspecting that my friend had had a heart attack. The first day back to work after the new year vacation, I was told that the husband of a colleague of mine was having a bypass surgery during the holidays. Hold on, it’s not over yet!

Last night I received another email telling me that two of my former classmates were recuperating from strokes. That’s more than enough that I could bear, and it prompted me to ask every one I met today with the same question. When was your last physical exams?

The answers varied. Some has not got any physical exam for more than 6 years. But it seems like no one care to have a physical exam since there were no symptoms, and nothing to worry about. Well, you may then ask, what about myself. OK, let me tell you this.

I don’t know why, and I have suspected that it may have something to do with my age. Every summer since I started my current job, I always got a call from the health center and I have to go thru my annual physical exam. The goodnews was, in the last two years the doctor always told me that my estimated CHD Risk is smaller than 0.5. When I asked him further what did that mean, he simply said that the risk of my dying from heart attack is very low.

Not only that, he even asked me to relax a bit from whatever I was doing to keep my cholesterol levels down. I told him that I took some health supplements but he ignored all the labels of the supplements that I attached to my registration papers. Later on I showed these test results to my family doctor and she was not very happy since my blood pressure was still elevated a bit. At the end, she suggested me to take another blood test in 3 months. She said it was a new test protocol. I went ahead to let them draw my blood for this so called Berkeley Protocol, and when the result came back three weeks later, my doctor was so elated. She told me that indeed the cholesterol levels were good, and she was so excited about the cleaness of my blood. I forgot the exact words she used, but at that time I thought I knew what she was talking about. I have seen the video of the blood images under microscope before and after taking the same type of health supplement as what I have taken daily in the past three years.

I started taking this supplement because it works really well in eliminating the seasonal allergy in many people. I have a family history of sinus cancer that had killed my mom, my brother and my sister. I will do anything possible to avoid any problem in my nose.

When I told my doctor the first time that I don’t have problem with my allergy anymore after I took this supplement, she said, it was all in my head. :-) But after two blood tests and she saw the last result, she finally agreed that indeed there was something more than what was there in my head. Around the same time, there were two other independent sources reported the positive effects of this supplement. One was a story in WETMTV, the other was a short note in Newsweek.

That’s why I’m not too worry about my own heart attack risk. However, I believe that even if you think you’re too young to get a heart attack, I still recommend you to check these videos where Bob Weltner, or Lisa and Joan describe their scary experiences. The long (13 minutes) video explains what is the heart attack along with some useful information. I don’t expect that it would be you,…honest,… but hey, by spreading these info, let more people watch the last three videos, some of them may recognize the early sign of heart attack in people around them. As you would see on these videos, timing may mean a lot! So let’s go to spread the words and get as many people as possibile to watch what is the heart attack video series.

I found the following info here:

If you have a heart condition that makes you concerned about the eventuality of a myocardial infarction and you live alone, signing up for a monitoring service is a critical plan for possible emergencies (actually, emergencies of any kind). All you would need to do is push a button that you wear as a necklace or bracelet and help would be on the way.

I’m not a medical professional, and I hope this info gives you some idea on what to do. Please remember, if you haven’t done it, then you need to get your physical exam…., the sooner the better. :-)
