No, I didn’t make this up.
You can find the video of Mary Engle (Associate Director, Bureau of Consumer Protection, Federal Trade Commission) with the title above if you visited the FTC site. Personally, I become interested in this topic since that was one of the reasons for the removal of some old postings from my blog last October.
Today, while thinking of adding the disclosure to my previous post, I went to check the FTC site and found the following videos.
The first one that I’d like to share with you is Mary Engle answering the question, Is the FTC Planning to Sue Bloggers?.
The second video is Mary Engle on How do bloggers follow the Endorsement Guide?
Now, everything is clear to me and I can post here without fear to be sued by FTC,
simply because I promote the products and the get paid to shop program from my Market America webportal. I also got a better understanding of the meaning of media hype, since if you read my post on the removal of those old posts, they mentioned that the FTC fine could be as high as $11,000 which had prompted me to take action. Now I think this direct explanation from the FTC means a lot to blogger community here in the U.S., particularly for those who read the news such as this one and the links there. However, am I the only one that was chicken out reading this news in October?
Definetely I’d like to hear from you.
If you need more info, please check the FTC site.
Last but not least, thank you Mary Engle for providing these clarifications.
