In the Wrong Crowd

It’s time to slow down again, and I have reduced the frequency of my posting here. After all I’ve come to a conclusion that I was in the wrong crowd, when I tried to solicit money in helping baby Gratia’s surgery last time. The traffic and the Adsense clicks didn’t materialize. I was so naive thinking that if someone did some charity works in the past, s/he would be interested to help such a good cause as helping the campaign for baby Gratia’s operation fund I was working on. Unfortunately, I was facing a hungry crowd trying to divide the pie for themselves from SEO etc, and most of the people from SEO crowd didn’t really care about what I was doing. Fortunately, all the stories I’ve reported about baby Gratia got a positive response from a congregation in Jakarta, Indonesia, and they finally managed to help the Rondo family with the operation fees etc.
While I’ve learned a lot of techniques about traffic and SEO in the past few months, you may notice that I’m not doing this for the shake of making money online for myself. That’s why I said I’m in the wrong crowd.
The campaign to collect donations for the surgery of baby Gratia was the main drive for me to start blogging again back in October after I went off in March this year. The more I thought about it I realized that what I really need is the way Chris Brogan has done it. (Thanks to Doug Karr for bringing Chris’ work to my attention.) I really don’t need to be involved directly with the money collections which for one is very time consuming and secondly it may rise people’s eyebrows if they don’t really know who you are. However, through my blog I certainly could promote other people’s charity works.
That’s why from now on, I would learn more the Chris Brogan way in explaining about Susan Reynolds’ peas network, as well as the works of Susan Reynold herself. In that way, I hope to reduce my blogging time and spend more time on my real work and my family.
I could also learn from Dan’s Wrong Advices blog, which contains mostly short postings but very informative, with the assortment of random stuffs that I like.
Finally, Wish You All a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
