Greetings from Boston

by drt on October 16, 2007

That was the subject of the email that I received around midnight last night.

Remember the sentence I wrote in the last post about miracle? Indeed it is happening now!

I was so emotional last night before I went to bed. I called Winston, and I also talked to few friends who happens to be still online last night, then went to bed very exhaustive but very grateful to what has happened so far.

Few days ago, I called an Indonesian friend of mine in Boston I knew from parokinet ( Parish Net) and also asking him about the affiliation of protestant churches as I’ve mentioned in my last posting. I mentioned to him what I was doing, sharing the experience on how difficult to deal with churches in the U.S. as far as soliciting donation like this, and then I gave him the URL of this blog.

We have never met in person and we only knew each others over the past few years via parokinet and other Indonesian mailing lists. Yes, we have talked over the phone few times but never met. He happened to be a pastor in Jakarta and he is doing his Ph. D. in Boston. He also asked me to write a letter to his church council back home in Jakarta but I told him I didn’t know anybody there. He was so kind to write an email and explain the situation of baby Gratia with the reference to the story on this blog and cc-ed the email to me. Since the recipient to the email is a prominent figure from my hometown, even though I didn’t know him personally, I also replied to my friend email with a cc to this prominent figure from my hometown. But as I have mentioned in previous postings, it’s still Idul Fitri holiday season in Indonesia so it took a longer time for us to get the reply. The recipient was in China and only found the email while he was on his way home via Tokyo on October 14. The email thread then getting longer and my friend forwarded the email to me not long after I posted my last entry saying I believe in miracle.

I have contacted Winston right after receiving that email (and calmed down myself). I told winston about the email and I will wait until I get a clearance from all the people involved in that email before I could post it here. But I have removed the paypal donation button that I just installed last night on the right sidebar, and from the bottom of my heart I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the visitors to this blog for their prayer, and their effort to help baby Gratia. Last but not least to my friend who has initiated the effort to contact his church council. I could only offer my prayer to them and thank God to make this happens.

Yes, it was a miracle, at least for me and baby Gratia’s family. I will still send the money I am going to collect until this Sunday evening to baby Gratia’s  family. Got to go for my doctor appointment now.
