Gratia’s 3-Month After Surgery Pictures

In October 2007, she had 3 holes in the septum of her little heart because she was born with VSD. Thanks God with the help of a caring community back in Jakarta, her family finally got the money they need for her expensive surgery and here we are. Gratia is a healthy 6-month old baby girl, is learning how to say ‘mama’ and is able to consume baby foods or milk the way a healthy baby should be. That was not the cases before and right after her surgery.

I’m sharing these pictures that I received from Gratia’s Dad, Winston, two days ago for my gratitude that somehow the Internet had created a miracle for the Rondos. You may see Winston and Deasy’s happy faces when they took Gratia to the mall where the picture shown below was taken. They share the same gratitude or even more than what I have here.

According to Winston’s email, Gratia still needs to have a final checkups with the cardiologist at Harapan Kita Cardiology Center in February and Winston is planing to ask the doctor if the coming quarterly check ups could be done in Kupang, Timor, instead. After all Deasy’s congregation is also waiting for her service there after her long absence.

Winston himself has already gone back to Kupang to work for the NGO that is helping the displaced people from the last conflict when East Timor gained her independence. By looking at the map below you could see that it is quite a distance to travel from Kupang, Timor to Jakarta. (Please click the map below to see a larger map). Economically, it would be hard to travel back and forth for an average family like the Rondos, particularly the check ups have to be done quarterly for a year.

While my effort in October to collect money from Adsense etc didn’t materialize in helping Gratia’s operation fund, I am still delighted that due to the activity here, the Rondo’s finally got the help they need through my friend’s Church in Jakarta.

Thanks to all that had help and I’m looking forward to seeing baby Gratia growing up like other healthy babies.

  1. [...] When I received an email about Theresia, I told the folks in my mailing list, sorry, I couldn’t do it this time. I don’t have time to pursue. Promising to helping people doesn’t mean writing a story of the cause, post it on your blog then forget about it. You have to follow up with the updates on the recipient’s condition etc., and those tasks take a lot of times. Not only that, it was a stressful task as I found out during the course of helping baby Gratia. …. In January 24th, I posted the latest pictures of baby Gratia as well as the happy faces of her Mom and Dad. [...]
