Ed Morana’s ISS Transit Prediction

This email caught my attention the other day. Ed Morana has just completed a Java Based ISS Transit prediction program and it is now available from his site. The program accepts user coordinate information then generates an ISS transit prediction text file, along with plot files which can be displayed with Google Earth or Google Maps.
In the past few years I have been thinking of adding a link to Thomas Fly ISS-Transit Project in my Space Links, but I kept forget about it. In his work Thomas also referred to Ed Morana’s work as well as others’. There were two good references to Thomas’ works. One was from June 2004 Issue of Sky and Telescope magazine and the other I saw it on Science at NASA few years ago. It took me a while to find this article on Space Station Eclipses Jupiter, due to the integration of various NASA websites into one NASA Portal.
With the completion of Ed’s program, now we have more tools to predict the ISS solar or lunar transits and expect to see more pictures or videos such as the ones shown in John Locker or Thierry Legault’s pages. You may find more detail info on how to get the information and taking these pictures on Ed Morano’ page or the links you may find there.
