Disasters’ Relief Efforts by Captain Budi Soehardi

by drt on October 28, 2010

My dear cyber friend, Captain Budi, the 2009 CNN Hero finalist, is organizing the disasters’ relief efforts to help the victims of Mt. Merapi eruption, some 30 km north of his old home town of Yogyakarta, as well as the victims of the recent tsunami disaster in Mentawai island in Indonesia.

I’ve just got off the phone talking to Captain Budi in New York. He has stayed all night long, talking to all his contacts in Singapore, Malaysia, as well as in various parts of Indonesia. Captain Budi will fly back to Singapore tonight and as is stated in his blog, he will arrive back in Singapore on October 30th, then fly to Indonesia the next day.

For more information, please visit Captain Budi’s blog at Rosalin Orphanage. As you may find in the PS there, Captain Budi wrote:

During Aceh Tsunami we managed to send help 160 tonnes of aid within 21 days .
Some working with Lion clubs and Rotary Clubs as our team.

During the previous Jogja earth quake we managed to give way some 22 000 bags of cements.

In addition, Captain Budi has listed the ‘DOs’ and ‘DON’Ts’ if you really want to help. Please check it out, and thanks for your visit.
