Baby Gratia’s Surgery Date is October 30th.

When I woke up at 4 this morning, I called Winston since they were 12 hours ahead of us. I didn’t post what I heard right away since I went back to sleep after the call. However, here are the good news that I heard from Winston and later on he emailed to our mailing list Bolelebo.

According to Winston, the Church Elder Mr. Simanjuntak from GKI Pondok Indah met them at the hospital yesterday (Monday morning) to see if he could post a warranty for them to register for baby Gratia’s surgery. It turned out that Winston had just received a letter from the Church in his hometown in Timor that had processed the Health Insurance (called ASKES or Asuransi Kesehatan in Indonesian) for them recently. Better late than never! That ASKES recommendation letter alone had made them eligible to register without posting the prepayment or showing that they would have the money to pay for the surgery and the care afterward. Once again, thanks God that it came on time, and thanks for the congregation of GKI Pondok Indah that was so kind to let Mr. Simanjuntak to accompany the Rondos to go to the hospital.

As for the result of the collection from Pondok Indah congregations, the number has not come out yet, since the decission to request the donation were decided at the last minutes due to the email and later on few phone calls my friend in Boston made to the Church Elders in Jakarta. The request for donation was announced in Sunday services through the LCD screen in the church, since the church bulletin had been printed days before. Accordingly, they have to wait a day or two to finally see the donations coming in. However, with the Health Insurance and the possible contribution of Pondok Indah Congregations, for the time being it seems that we don’t need to worry about the money yet.

On the other side of the story, I have received more than 60 email addresses from people in my hometown mailing list (less than 100 active members across the globe) that telling me they are ready to sign up to John Chow RSS Readers if that could caught John Chow community’s attention and could increase the traffic to this site. Indeed, I was the one that mentioned the megapower John Chow dot com has. However, I’m still waiting for the final number from Jakarta to see if we really need to continue the campaigne. Also, I don’t think this number of 60 more subscribers means anything to John Chow dot com since John could sign up new readers in thousands in a short amount of time. My only hope is that, if baby Gratia’s story really catches John Chow community attention, then may be I could wider the campaign to ask for Indonesians across the globe to campaign for baby Gratia by signing up as John Chow dot com’s readers too. That could possibly tripled that number or more. Not that much, but at least would be much better than 60 addresses only. Also, with today’s convertion rate, US$ 1,100.00 USD would give them 10,051,447.06 IDR or 10 million Indonesian Rupiahs and that would mean a lot to the Rondos, should the final amount including their own money, the donations they have collected, the insurance payment doesn’t reach the amount as requested by the hospital.

As of today, the total all time earning from the Ads is as follows:

Google Adsense: $44.48
TTZ Media: $2.10
Shopzilla: $0.88
Donations from friend:$7.00
Total: 54.46

I couldn’t see the $39.99 signed up bonus from my Shopzilla account. Did I miss something here?

Also, I’m not sure if we could gain more money with increasing in traffic from the click the ads alone. It really made me want to puke when seeing the number above. But again, it’s traffic, traffic and traffic. The Chinese would say, “we forget even incense in easy times; come hard times, we embrace the Buddha’s feet.” Traffic also means maintaining and constant updating the blog. As I said when I slowing down updating my blog few months ago, that was what I don’t have. I have abandoned this site for a while.

With the increasing traffic there is also a possibility to ask for donation. But I haven’t decided for doing that yet. While reading the other John Chow’s posting, particularly about the matching donation he mentioned there, I just wonder if John Chow himself would be interested in this cause. May be I should ask friends in Indonesia to cover this story in the newspaper to show that it’s not a scam, but it’s really something worthy of my time to beg continuously in this blog.

I also checked with my Accountant this afternoon and she said that I could not deduct the donation to individual in my tax return. She suggested me to talk to my bank and see if the bank would set up an account that is not mixed with my other accounts. I thought that is a lot of works, and I will wait until we know how much is the collection from the congregation and how much do they need before I go out to work on this. I think I have spent enough time and so many things have been postponed because of this. I’m glad finally they were allowed to register and the surgery date has been set.

Looking at the amount shown above I felt like a joke. But what else could make you happy when you can’t donate money directly to someone, you still can help someone solve their problem? At least with the helps of friends around the globe together we have solved part of the problems so far. I do believe we still need you all’s support and please remember Winston, Desy and baby Gratia in your prayers.

Also, I’m looking a Java script codes to add below the line in the codes asking to subscribe by email that John Chow has posted in his blog. I thought, if I could just add a line or two on that scripts for the ‘form’ then I can also place that same script at my blog. With that extra lines of code, anyone subscribing to John Chow dot com (feedId=514010) will also sent an automatic email to me or leave their email address at a database in my site, which would tell me that they have just signed up. We can then see how many people actually signed up from my campaign to judge, whether it is effective or not. I don’t have time now to dig around to write that code. If you know how to do it, would you please email me? You may consider that as your contribution to baby Gratia and we thank you in advance for that.
