Another phone call from Boston

by drt on October 30, 2007

Just got another call from Boston half-an-hour ago.

Two good news. The collection from the first church in Pondok Indah, Jakarta has gone up to 40 million Indonesian Rupiah, and the collection from the second church in Kayu Putih, Jakarta was 10 million rupiahs. Thanks God for the generosity of the congregations from both churches. I never expected such a response in the beginning when I first translated Winston’s letter. But not only that. One of the Church Elder that accompanied the Gratia’s family to the hospital when they went to register for surgery has also arranged a pavilion near the hospital to prevent them from going back and forth across Jakarta from Desy’s home somewhere in Tanjung Priok area to the National Cardiovascular Center Harapan Kita. Isn’t that wonderful? Can’t express how relief I was if you remember how low have I gone to beg for donation from the visitors to my site. Many distrusted my plea and even didn’t respond to my personal email or my request through numerous comments I placed on their sites. By using today’s rate that I just checked from xe.com, Rp 50 million is only US$5,495. Wouw, now let’s compare with what I’ve got so far:

Google Adsense: $45.94.
TTZ: $2.55
Shopzilla: 1.63
Shopzilla sign up bonus: $39.95
Widget Bucks sign up bonus:$25.00

Total: $113.14

But I still need to pass $100 mark to get pay from Google Adsense. Don’t know about TTZ and Shopzilla. Anyway, next week I will close this campaign and get whatever number I’ve gotten plus the $7 my 3 colleague gave me and get that money to baby Gratia’s parent. It will be a long time before they can go back to my old home town. They still need some small change. Do you want to chip in?

BTW, after hung up the phone with my friend in Boston, I then called Desy’ home and this time I talked to Desy’s another sister Maria. She told me that all the ICUs were full yesterday and doctors postponed the surgery to 8AM this morning to make sure there would be an ICU when it’s needed. I tried to call Wiston’s cellphone but could not get through.

Again, let us pray for a successful operation and a speedy recovery. Thanks for your visit and thank for your visit to our sponsors.

It’s nice to see someone doing something to help others instead of himself.

Thanks for the nice words Marko. I’m amazed with the result we got from here. If it wasn’t the Internet that made me know this cyber friend, it it wasn’t the Internet that made members of my mailing list knew where to seek help, I don’t know what would happen to baby Gratia. The result from pay per click means nothing but the indirect result particularly through the connection of my friend in Boston’s Church really amazed me.

I just talked to Gratia’s father an hour or so ago, unfortunately, since I was so busy at work, for the past two days I didn’t have that much time to update the blog except the SMS messages in Indonesian that I posted in for the Rondo’s families and friend in 28oktober.net. However, Gratia has been out from a more than 4 hours surgery in the past two days and she is okay. Of course it is very painful even for adults while recurerating, so she cried a lot according to her father. Let us pray for her speedy recovery and once again, thanks for your visit.
