After upgrading to WP 2.8.4, one problem that still bothered me and took me a long time to fix was the access to my Adsense Deluxe Plugin page. Everytime I tried to click on Settings > AdsenseDeluxe, I always got the following error message:
You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.
I went to WP Forum, used the error message as my search words, and made my first mistakes. There were too many problems that could generate the same error message. However, since I was desperate so I kept scanning through the list of 181 hits. Finally, at the thread #24 (as of tonight), I found my answer:
- deactivate adsense-delux
- download adsense-delux from server
- edit adsense-delux.php and change admin_head to admin_menu
- upload back to server
- activate adsense-delux – you should be able to access the plugin now
My thanks to Surfiro that had summarized these steps there in that thread, and also posted a link to this Filipino Enterpreuner site which providing an easy to follow example. I wish I have found this thread earlier without trying all those steps that didn’t work.
Lesson learned: Use the correct search words.
Now let’s try a little experiment to learn on how to use correct search words to reduce the number of hits.
First, we may try to copy the error message (line one in the list below) into the searchbox and see how many pages would we get from WP Support forum. Then we may add the words ‘Adsense Deluxe’ in front of the error message (line two) and try again to see the search results. For my first trial, with all the words in line two I only got 4 entries including one of my own at WP Support Forum.

Please try it yourself! 😆
